Unexploded Ordnance (UXO), 2017
Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) was a script and performance work that imagined Dargavel Village, a new nuclear family zone in Bishopton and formerly a Royal Ordnance Factory, as a site for queer desire and possible re-destruction by a drugged and mutated monster.
The piece aims to find links within recent utopias; suburban commercial housing projects and PrEP – a blue pill that prevents HIV infection. Forms of weaponry, resistance and assimilation are probed to characterise and cauterise a lack of personal belonging.
